A'MO B&B // HUALIEN

OUR SIDE TRIP TO HUALIEN IN THE SOUTHEAST OF TAIWAN BEGAN WITH 1.5 HOURS OF HAGGLING FOR A REASONABLY PRICED RENTAL CAR. LESSON LEARNED, BOOK IN ADVANCE.

WHAT WE HAD PREPARED FOR THOUGH, WAS A STAY @ A NEWLY OPENED B&B, A'MO. THE PLACE IS ACTUALLY NAMED AFTER THE OWNER'S FLUFFY WHITE DOG WHO FREQUENTS THE DOWNSTAIRS COMMUNAL AREAS.

WITH THAT, WE MADE SURE TO GET SOME PET THERAPY IN AFTER OUR LONG AS JOURNEY.

THE SPACES IN THE B&B AND ALL THE ROOMS ARE DECORATED WITH ANTIQUES THROUGHOUT. ALL OF THEM FROM AROUND THE WORLD, COLLECTED FROM THE OWNER'S YEARS OF TRAVELS (FUTURE APARTMENT GOALS RIGHT HERE).

IT'S ALSO PET FRIENDLY FOR THOSE TRAVELING WITH LITTLE FURRY ONES.

WE MAINLY MADE THE TRIP DOWN TO HUALIEN TO VISIT TAROKO GORGE, A BEAUTIFUL NATURE SPOT WITH SOME GREAT HIKES (POST COMING SOON!) BUT HUALIEN ALSO BOASTS NEARBY HOT SPRINGS, BEACHES, AND LIYU LAKE, MAKING IT A GREAT BASE FOR GETTING OFF THE BEATEN TRACK.

A'MO IS ALSO A 7 MIN DRIVE TO THE NIGHT MARKET +  THERE'S ALSO A GREAT WONTON SOUP SHOP JUST A 10 MIN WALK AWAY AND NUMEROUS TAIWANESE BREAKFAST EATERIES IN THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD, ALL PERFECT FOR SOME PRE OR POST HIKE SNACKS.

SIDE NOTE THOUGH, THE ROOM GETS MORE THAN A BIT CHILLY AT TIMES (THOUGH THE CLOUDY WEATHER WE WERE BLESSED WITH DURING OUR TRIP DIDN'T HELP MATTERS) AND DESPITE BEING CALLED A B&B, A'MO DOESN'T OFFER BREAKFAST ON SITE. IT'S A REALLY LOWKEY PLACE TO STAY, PERFECT FOR THE INDEPENDENT TRAVELLER WHO DOESN'T NEED ALL THE BELLS & WHISTLES OF A FULL SERVICE HOTEL. AND OF COURSE, WE LOVED THE DECOR + COMFY BEDS.

THANKS TO A'MO B&B FOR HOSTING US!
BUT AS USUAL, ALL OPINIONS ARE OUR OWN.
